Reborn Babies

I created the first Reborn Baby in 1990.  After teaching classes for my porcelain doll group the seeds were planted and over the next 10 years this art began to flourish.  With the advent of the Internet and personal computers in  the home, Reborning is now a worldwide art.  Here are a few of my Reborns.

Reborning is the art of taking  a blank doll and painting and detailing it to bring it to life.  The goal is to create the illusion of a real baby. Each strand of hair is hand applied using a tiny needle.  It takes days to complete the rooting of the hair.

Rooting is the crowning glory of any Reborn.  Beauiful rooting is time consuming but well worth the effort.

My favorite dolls have always been the babies.  Nancy Ann Hush A Bye Baby was my very first Nancy Ann doll.  I am always on the watch for another baby to come and join the nursery.  I make custom layettes for Nancy Ann babies if they arrive without clothing.  I use the original patterns and imported Italian Organdy like they had when they were first made.

I have always loved dolls.  This is a Nancy Ann Storybook Doll from 1950.  She is Miss February, Snow and Ice.  I think you will agree she is in so beautiful in her cream colored taffeta gown trimmed in a silvery braid on her dress and white wool felt bonnet.  Below is Miss June that is just as sweet in her Rosebud gown with pink wool hat and rose colored ribbons.  She is also from 1950.  They both have black sleep eyes.
